Easter Oatmeal Pie Chick Craft

Teaching Tip: If you are out of or do not like Oatmeal Pies, you can use sugar cookies or spice cookies. Bake them using a super easy recipe below. Once cooled, place in clear sandwich bag. Draw use fabric paint and construction paper on plastic sandwich bag.

Sugar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients

1 vanilla cake mix

2 eggs

1/2 cup butter

optional: 1 container vanilla frosting

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet.

2. Melt butter.

3. Stir cake mix, butter, and eggs until combined.

4. Scoop small spoon fulls of dough onto lightly greased cookie sheet.

5. Bake about 10 minutes. Cool 5 to 10 minutes on the cookie sheet before removing.

6. If frosting, let cookies completely cool.

Spice Cookie Recipe

Follow Sugar Cookie Recipe above except replace 1 vanilla cake mix with 1 spice cake mix.

If using frosting, replace the 1 container of vanilla frosting with 1 container cream cheese frosting

Teaching Tip: Talk about oven safety with your child. A child should never touch an oven even if that child thinks the oven is off. An adult should always be present when baking or cooking. A child should never play with the oven. He or she should not touch any buttons or turn any knobs.
